About Guest Speaker Assemblymember David Tangipa:
David Tangipa was elected to the State Assembly in 2024 to advocate for Calaveras, Fresno, Inyo, Madera, Mariposa, Mono, and Tuolumne counties. Prior to being elected to the legislature, David worked in real estate and with Fresno County.
David is a San Joaquin Valley native. A proud, first-generation American and son of a veteran, David was born and raised in Sacramento and has lived his entire adult life in Fresno. He attended Fresno State and played tight end for the Bulldogs where he learned the importance of discipline, hard work, and spirit of the Central Valley.
After earning a bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Criminology, as well as a master’s in Business Administration with an emphasis in marketing, David embarked on a career helping people live the American dream of owning a home.
David is passionate about serving his community and is involved with Fresno County Athletic Hall of Fame, Fresno State Bulldog Foundation, and Fresno State Football Alumni.
About Fmr. Sheriff John McGinness:
John McGinness retired as Sheriff in December 2010, after 31 years with the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department. He served in every service area of the Department, and was a highly decorated veteran with a background in many high-profile assignments.
John McGinness served for many years as a member of the Sheriff’s Motorcycle Detail where he was a training officer and team leader. He served as a CSI investigator, homicide detective and department spokesman. John McGinness promoted through the ranks and ultimately commanded the Centralized Investigation Division until he was appointed Undersheriff in March of 2001. John McGinness served as Undersheriff until elected Sheriff in 2006.
John McGinness holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Criminal Justice with a minor in Public Administration and a Master of Science Degree in Emergency Services Administration from the California State University, Long Beach, and is a graduate of the prestigious West Point Leadership Institute.
John McGinness is an Adjunct Professor of Criminal Justice, Communications, Leadership and Professional Studies with the California State University.
John McGinness was appointed to the POST Commission by Governor Schwarzenegger in 2007.
John McGinness is now the president and CEO of McGinness Communication Solutions, Inc., a consulting and investigation enterprise. He also hosts The John McGinness Show on KFBK, Sacramento on AM 1530 and FM 93.1.
